MEDIATION Retour accueil

Mediation at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève aims to be at the forefront of its discipline, at a national and international level. Mediation is developed by microsillons*, an “artist-mediator” collective, and invites the Centre’s various visitors to play an active part in the life of the institution, through specific projects that are sometimes also carried out outside the Centre’s premises.

Microsillon’s approach consists of involving the “visitors-participants” in long-term collaborations. Each project comprises a public stage (exhibitions, meetings, projections, etc.). microsillons’ work is cross-disciplinary and seeks to locate cultural mediation within a framework that goes beyond art; the purpose is no longer to explain artistic practices by guiding the visitors’ interpretation, but to collaborate with them in order to open up spaces for thought, criticism, creation and research on art.

A unique offer is tailor-made for each group who works with the Centre. The mediation service references the Centre’s programme and uses contemporary artistic practices to explore issues in contemporary society and make connections between art and life.

* Microsillons has been awarded several prizes, including the 2008 Swiss Federal Art Award.
