“I have been black and blue in some spot, somewhere, almost all my life from too intimate contacts with my own furniture.”
Frank Lloyd Wright
Suite à sa résidence de quatre mois à l’atelier d’artiste du Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, Pablo Hurtado inaugure l’espace du Project Space avec un nouveau travail.
Following a 4 months residency at the studio of the Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève, Pablo Hurtado will show a new installation at the Project Space.
Pablo Hurtado's installation stems from an interest in paraphalia and the notion of “Object sexuality.” Two objects share the space and seem to interact. A window, inspired by the one sealed off by the Centre d'art Contemporain to create this new space, and a latex table are placed in opposition to each other. The window is tall and covered in colour fading and “tie and dye” rectangles, the table bears the marks of the casting process - the material surplus is visible.
Beyond the idea of animism, the artist evokes in this installation a very specific relation to objects. He questions perhaps – like Frank Lloyd Wright's quote – the intimacy that we build around objects and in a larger social perspective the relation of dependence that these objects can generate.
Pablo Hurtado (*1975) lives and works in Geneva, he is a member of Hard Hat since 2011.
